All the study participants were educated about prevention, early detection, and treatment of cervical cancer. It is both inaccurate and misleading to suggest that our study participants were not given adequate information. The trained study health workers read out the consent form, explained the study, responded to queries from participants and their families, and enrolled women who were willing to participate. Our study protocol was reviewed and approved by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and Christian Fellowship Community Health Center (CFCHC) ethics review committees and the study progress was regularly reviewed by the IARC Scientific Council and internal reviews at the CFCHC.
